Finally finished Chapter 2. I was blocked for days. Days, damn it!
Usually when I’m struggling, it’s because I’m either starting a new chapter and didn’t give myself an easy hook into it from the chapter that came before, or because I’m overwhelmed by all the things I want to accomplish in the new chapter. In the case of Chapter 2, it was because of both.
But after days of wrestling with this monster of a chapter (Hint: Christmas Eve brunch at the Browning house is about to get real, y’all), I finally found a way to sink my teeth into it. I made up this kickass origin story for Eli, and I was so amused by it, I reread the damn thing a couple dozen times. Then I knocked out a couple thousand words because it inspired me.
