Whoo-hoo! Knocked out Chapter 31 in just four short afternoons of writing. It’s only a 1300-word scene, but I’ll take it. I need to start building some momentum with the writing again, so I can slam dunk New Year’s Res # 3. I also need to get back to having fun with it, and Chapter 31 was definitely fun to write.
Up until this point in the story, my boy Eli has been working with a variety of gifted young artists in his recording studio, and I thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if he had to work with someone who wasn’t quite so talented. Oh, Tucker Geary can sing alright, but his songwriting skills leave a whole lot to be desired…
Ha! Writing a bad song is so much easier than writing a good one. Although, bad, like truly craptastic bad, does take a bit of thought. The end result of my effort was a little ditty called “Soulbreaker” which I think kind of channels Adam Sandler’s Wedding Singer classic “Somebody Kill Me Please.” (Pretty sure, Eli was thinking exactly that while stuck in a recording session with Tucker for a few hours. ?)
