Just wrapped Chapter 37 today, and I feel like jumping up and cheering. Maybe doing some kind of happy dance like my girl, Lily. Because damn these last couple chapters were tough to write. Really delving into Lily’s drama with her parents, her lingering resentment towards her mother for the affair, and what actually happened with all that, was mentally exhausting to say the least. But, hallelujah, I am now past one of the biggest hurdles in the story, and I can move on.
In other good news, I also have a solid outline for the rest of the book. If everything tracks according to plan, I’ve got eight more chapters to write and an epilogue. Then, and I’m trying to contain my excitement here, I gotta revise this bitch. But you know what, if there is one benny to being such a meticulous over-writing perfectionist on the first go around – when it probably would be a helluva lot easier, and faster, if I could just knock out a shitty first draft from the jump – it is that my revising/editing phase doesn’t seem to take too long.
Hopefully, that is the case. I would really love to publish this book in December 2021. That would be awesome considering much of the action of the story takes place around Christmas and New Year’s.
Fingers crossed, y’all!
